The Guild offers the following classes: All new members are invited to attend a free Embroidery Basics Class. The class is designed as a preparation for other Guild classes, and allows new members to learn or to revise, as the case may be, the main embroidery stitches, general embroidery procedures and related topics such as the use of particular needles, threads and fabrics. This course was devised to assist new members to the Guild who may have previously done little embroidery but any member is welcome to do it. While some of the classes are related directly to stitching, other classes deal with finishing and construction e.g. finishing the items with hemming, mounting as for a picture, making an item into a cushion, a needle case or glasses case. Unfortunately, because of inexperience, a worthwhile piece of embroidery can be ruined in the finishing process and these classes are aimed at avoiding this outcome. The Free Stitches Class must have completed before enrolling in the Embroidery Techniques Course, unless an exemption has been given, based on experience, by the Head of Tutors. Members can choose to have their projects assessed by the relevant tutor and after successful completion of all six classes, may apply for the Certificate in Embroidery Techniques. This is entirely an "in house" award and, as such, may not be recognised outside the Guild. Embroidery Techniques Course
