Kogin Red Flower Tote Bag with Alana Wegner
Saturday, 1 March 2025 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
This one-day class is designed for those new to Kogin Embroidery, a Japanese technique from the prefecture of Aomori, northern Honshu.
Kogin was developed by the peasant classes and worked onto clothing to add durability and warmth in the harsh conditions. The technique is based on closely spaced parallel rows of running stitch (pattern darning).
Students will commence the embroidery for the Red Flower Tote bag (Approx 30cm x 22cm) and some additional embroidery and sewing is required to complete the bag.
The class is designed for those who have not previously undertaken any Kogin embroidery and enjoy counted thread embroidery.
No preparation work is required prior to this one-day class.
