These classes are run by the Guild in a relaxed and supportive environment. Everyone over 18 is welcome – beginners or experienced embroiderers alike. You don’t need to be a Guild member. The projects are easy and fun with Guild members there to help you and provide a way of developing your enjoyment of embroidery. Projects are designed for beginners and include the basic stitches used in surface embroidery.
New members are offered one free Start Stitching class during their first year of membership. They may choose which Start Stitching class to use as their free class, not necessarily the next one. This allows the option of attending whenever the project appeals. New members may also attend as many Start Stitching classes as they wish during that first year, at the usual cost of $30.
The class cost includes a kit with threads, needle, notes and tuition.

There are 4 steps at the entrance to the building and the ground floor area, as a result, wheelchair access is difficult and not recommended. Classes are usually held in the upstairs room which can only be accessed via the stairs.
Getting Here
- Free parking is available on Saturday and Sunday in Warry, Kennigo and Love Streets (behind the Guild).
- Fortitude Valley train station is a 5-minute walk away (exit via Brunswick Street).
- Numerous bus routes service Fortitude Valley. The closest stop, adjacent to the Guild building, is Brunswick Street at St Pauls Terrace, stop 5.

The Guild accepts no responsibility for difficulties with, or damage to your equipment.
Cancellation Policy
If a class is cancelled by the Guild all fees paid will be refunded. No refunds will be given for cancellations within two weeks of the class date. If more than two weeksโ notice is given, a refund will be offered, less $20 administration fee. Payment for kits will not be refunded but, if already purchased, the kit can be collected from the Guild rooms.
