Class with Anna Lang
TWO DAY CLASS
Sunday 22 March and
Saturday 28 March
Stumpwork embroidery, as we know it, is predominantly a decorative style of raised embroidery, that employs detached elements which are stitched on a separate piece of fabric. These elements are usually worked around pieces of wire and then are applied to the background embroidery to give a 3-dimensional effect.
In the workshop we will be stitching the individual petals and leaves (the raised elements), using wire which will then be incorporated into the background fabric embroidery. To give a realistic look to the rose, students will learn how to incorporate thread painting on the petals and leaves.
There will be an option for students who don’t wish to incorporate thread painting in their rose.
Skill level: Basic knowledge of stitches is required
