Ann Appleton Sampler

This cross stitch sampler was worked by Ann Appleton at the age of nine in 1841. It includes a series of alphabets, initials and motifs of birds, animals and flowers. A simple border finishes the entire piece.

The sampler is stitched exclusively in cross stitch and would be suitable for all stitcher levels. The original is stitched on linen; however, it could be stitched on Aida, evenweave or linen to suit. The bold motifs would look good on all counts of fabric.
