Class with Anna Lang
This class will look at the steps required during the design process for embroidery projects.
Topics covered include the project layout, size, what to include, what to exclude, colour choice, thread choice, stitch choice, the importance of the negative space and whether the image and design suits the style of embroidery.
At the end of the presentation the tutor will work with individual students to start planning their own design.
Please bring the following items to the class:
- Note pad or design pad
- Pen and/or pencils for writing and drawing
- A number of ideas that the student wishes to work from. This can include anything that inspires them – a photograph, drawing, playing cards to even a pattern on a vase.

There are 4 steps at the entrance to the building and the ground floor area, as a result, wheelchair access is difficult and not recommended. Classes are usually held in the upstairs room which can only be accessed via the stairs.
Getting Here
- Free parking is available on Saturday and Sunday in Warry, Kennigo and Love Streets (behind the Guild).
- Fortitude Valley train station is a 5-minute walk away (exit via Brunswick Street).
- Numerous bus routes service Fortitude Valley. The closest stop, adjacent to the Guild building, is Brunswick Street at St Pauls Terrace, stop 5.

The Guild accepts no responsibility for difficulties with, or damage to your equipment.
Cancellation Policy
If a class is cancelled by the Guild all fees paid will be refunded. No refunds will be given for cancellations within two weeks of the class date. If more than two weeksโ notice is given, a refund will be offered, less $20 administration fee. Payment for kits will not be refunded but, if already purchased, the kit can be collected from the Guild rooms.
