Class with Deborah Love
Explore Indiaโs rich embroidery heritage and create a small 10 x 10cm purse (durjari).
This little purse is stitched using simple stitches and bright colours on green silk/linen fabric. The finished piece is double layered then folded to create a purse.
This class is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced stitchers.
Please bring the following items to the class:
- DMC stranded cotton:
602, 741, 995, 666, 3812, 444, 703 (or other colours of your choice) - Needle: # 8 Crewel
- Hoop: 4 or 6 inch
- Bohin white chalk pencil
Two pieces of silk/linen fabric (20 cm square) will be included in your kit.

There are 4 steps at the entrance to the building and the ground floor area, as a result, wheelchair access is difficult and not recommended. Classes are usually held in the upstairs room which can only be accessed via the stairs.
Getting Here
- Free parking is available on Saturday and Sunday in Warry, Kennigo and Love Streets (behind the Guild).
- Fortitude Valley train station is a 5-minute walk away (exit via Brunswick Street).
- Numerous bus routes service Fortitude Valley. The closest stop, adjacent to the Guild building, is Brunswick Street at St Pauls Terrace, stop 5.

The Guild accepts no responsibility for difficulties with, or damage to your equipment.
Cancellation Policy
If a class is cancelled by the Guild all fees paid will be refunded. No refunds will be given for cancellations within two weeks of the class date. If more than two weeksโ notice is given, a refund will be offered, less $20 administration fee. Payment for kits will not be refunded but, if already purchased, the kit can be collected from the Guild rooms.
